Replication Project

Supportive housing works. Two government studies have shown than more than 83 percent of the homeless individuals placed in supportive housing have remained in permanent housing and reintegrated themselves into mainstream society. The cost per tenant per year is substantially less than other options, such as city shelters.

The CGC model is being replicated around the country and around the world. This grant will help formalize the replication process. CGC will create training manuals and publications based on its successful experience. Twice a year it will hold a “replication institute” in New York for nonprofit groups and city administrators interested in the CGC model. Staff will be made available to field requests for information from around the world. It will continue to create innovative programs and approaches to lifting people, buildings, and communities out of homelessness.
