Prevent Nuclear Terrorism

Why is it
important?

Hostile countries or groups could use nuclear weapons in smaller-scale acts that are difficult to predict or control. Weakened controls over the movement of nuclear materials, weapons, and delivery systems increase this danger.

What needs to
be done?

Countries within the nonproliferation regime need to strengthen safeguards, inspections and enforcement.

Countries need to better cooperate in counter-terrorism, transnational crime, and export control efforts.

Who is working on it?

Wisconsin Project

Center for International Trade and Security, University of Georgia

Committee to Bridge the Gap
