Stop Development, Production, and Testing

Why is it
important?

Ten years after the end of the Cold War, the world still bristles with nuclear weapons. The U.S.failure to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty; nuclear modernization plans in the U.S., Russia, and China; and retention of French and British nuclear arsenals give countries such as India and Pakistan and others license to pursue nuclear programs themselves.

What needs to
be done?

All nuclear-capable states need to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.

All nuclear-capable states need to forego new nuclear development plans and commit to halt production of fissile materials.

Who is working on it?

Coalition to Reduce Nuclear Dangers

Physicians for Social Responsibility

Institute for Science and International Security

Natural Resources Defense Council

Union of Concerned Scientists
